Rep. Peter Abbarno discusses trio of anti-firearm measures signed by Gov. Inslee on Newsmax TV

Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Centralia, appeared on Newsmax TV to discuss a trio of anti-firearm measures signed into law by Governor Inslee.

“Governor Inslee is pretty famous for his incendiary rhetoric. [House Bill 1240] also includes shotguns and pistols. This doesn’t take into account rifle clubs at high schools, hunting with your mom and dad, or history and tradition. This is a very broad bill with impactful consequences to folks in the state of Washington. I represent a lot of rural areas in the state, where it can take law enforcement 30 minutes to an hour to respond. A lot of the weapons banned under this bill are use by individuals to protect their families and homes.”

  • House Bill 1143 imposes training, permitting, and waiting period requirements on gun owners and firearm dealers with large fines and possible jail time.
  • House Bill 1240 outlaws the manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, or offer for sale of any so-called “assault weapon” with an emergency clause to go into effect once signed.
  • Senate Bill 5078 holds gun manufacturers legally responsible for how individuals misuse their products.

Abbarno voted against all three measures and spoke against their passage:

House Bill 1240

House Bill 1143
