Rep. Peter Abbarno welcomes Centralia Christian School students and teachers at the Capitol

Rep. Peter Abbarno on Monday met with students and teachers from Centralia Christian School (grades preschool-10) during their tour of the state Capitol.

The 20th District lawmaker quizzed the students on civics, state and local issues, and the history of the Capitol campus.

“Whenever I get a chance to meet with students from the district, it’s always the highlight of my day,” said Abbarno, R-Centralia. “Capitol visits give folks a front row seat to the process of 147 people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and beliefs trying to do what’s best for their districts and state. It’s a valuable educational experience for both kids and adults.”

Did you know? The Washington State Capitol Campus has a Law Enforcement Memorial in the shadow of the Temple of Justice that was dedicated in 2006. The memorial is a lasting tribute to law enforcement officers who give their lives in the line of duty.

It is a place for the public to read the inscription: “Their duty was to serve. Our duty is to remember,” reflect on the sacrifices made to protect them, and marvel at the beauty of the setting overlooking Capitol Lake and the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains beyond.
