Rep. Peter Abbarno welcomes Napavine Elementary School 4th Graders to State Capitol
Last week, Rep. Peter Abbarno, House Republican Caucus Chair, hosted 60 enthusiastic 4th-grade students and 12 chaperones from Napavine Elementary School at the Washington State Capitol. The visit provided students with a firsthand experience of the state’s legislative process and an opportunity to engage directly with their elected representatives.
“It is always inspiring to see young minds eager to learn about our state’s government,” said Abbarno, R-Centralia. “Hosting students from Napavine Elementary reminds us of the importance of fostering civic education and encouraging the next generation to participate actively in our democracy.”
Napavine Elementary, serving students from kindergarten through 6th grade, is known for its strong academic performance. The school underwent significant renovation and modernization in 2001, enhancing its facilities to serve its student body better. Additionally, the Napavine School District consistently ranks among the top in Lewis County and the state on the Smarter Balanced Assessments, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence.
“I’ve had the great honor of visiting with many of these students in their classroom and now at the Capitol,” added Abbarno. “This is a very fun and engaged group. It is always a pleasure to meet with them.”
This visit marks a continued tradition of educational tours to give students a deeper understanding of state governance and legislative processes. Abbarno remains committed to supporting educational initiatives and looks forward to welcoming more students to the Capitol.
