VIDEO | Legislative Recap: Week 7 Recap with Rep. Peter Abbarno

Rep. Peter Abbarno, House Republican Caucus Chair, recaps week seven of the 2025 legislative session on fiscal cutoff – that’s the deadline for bills to pass out of committee that are necessary to implement the budget. Any bill that does not pass out of committee by end of business today is considered dead this session.

❌The bad bills:

▶️HB 1217 would impose government price controls on rent. This hurt Washington’s housing supply and drive up costs.

▶️SB 5186 would lower the threshold to pass school construction bonds at the local level. This would pass the state’s responsibility to build schools onto local taxpayers, creating a greater disparity between the haves and the have nots.

Stay tuned for more weekly recaps from Rep. Abbarno during the 2025 legislative session.
