This biweekly update features photos of constituents who have visited the Capitol, sharing their perspectives, ideas, and passion for shaping state policy.
Your weekly recap of what’s happening in the Legislature
Every week, I break down significant developments, covering legislation that could have a lasting impact on families, communities, and the direction of our state. While some proposals raise serious concerns and create new challenges rather than solving existing ones, others present real opportunities to Fix Washington.
In this update, my Week 10 video breaks down some of the worst tax proposals in Washington state history—bills that would crush businesses, burden working families, and expand government at the taxpayers’ expense. Among them is House Bill 2045, which imposes a massive Business & Occupation (B&O) tax increase targeting high-grossing businesses and financial institutions. House Bill 2046 introduces a new wealth tax on select financial intangible assets over $50 million. House Bill 2049 raises property taxes by lifting the growth cap from 1% to 3%, making it even harder for families to afford their homes. Adding to the financial strain, Senate Bill 5796 proposes a devastating payroll tax on large employers, a move that will drive up costs and stifle job growth.
The bottom line? Hardworking Washingtonians will be paying the price. Stay informed and engaged as these policies take shape. Watch this week’s recap by clicking here or on the photo below.
