House Republicans have been fighting to hold criminals accountable in Washington state, which has the third-highest total crime rate in the nation. Unfortunately, Democrats in the Legislature have continued to prioritize criminals over victims.
Republicans introduced bills (HB 1890, HB 1891, HB 1892, and HB 1893) to hold prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and legislators accountable when their decisions compromise public safety. None of those bills received a public hearing from legislative Democrats.
Republicans also proposed bills to hire more police officers without raising local taxes (HB 1435 and HB 1436). Democrats rejected those bills in favor of higher taxes without the guarantee of more officers on the streets.
