Rep. Peter Abbarno visits the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County during Great Futures Week
Rep. Peter Abbarno, R-Chehalis, visited the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County to celebrate Great Futures Week and highlight the vital role before- and after-school programs play in supporting local youth and families.
The Boys and Girls Club’s mission aligns closely with Abbarno’s advocacy for programs that build opportunity and stability for children across the 20th District.
During his tour provided by Club students from W.F. West High School, Abbarno met with staff, volunteers, and students to see firsthand how the club continues to make a difference in the community. He noted that the Legislature has provided support for several Boys and Girls Club projects over the years – including recent capital budget funding to help expand their Centralia services through the United Learning Center.
“The Boys and Girls Club gives kids a safe, positive place to learn, grow, and connect with their peers,” said Abbarno, House Republican Caucus Chair. “I have been proud to help secure funding through the capital budget to expand their reach and ensure more young people have access to these opportunities. These programs – grounded in healthy lifestyles, academic success, and good character and citizenship – strengthen families and communities.”
Abbarno emphasized the importance of continued investment in after-school programs that foster academic achievement, mentorship, and community engagement.
“When we invest in our kids, we invest in our future,” added Abbarno. “The Boys and Girls Club is a perfect example of how partnerships between local organizations and the state can create lasting impacts.”
The Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County helps enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible community members.
