Dear Neighbor,
The 2026 legislative session is behind us, but the work of representing the 20th District continues every day.
Since the Legislature adjourned on March 12, I have been back home meeting with constituents, visiting local organizations, attending community events, and continuing conversations about the issues affecting families, small businesses, schools, and communities across Southwest Washington.
I also want to thank everyone who joined my virtual town hall meeting on April 13 with Rep. Ed Orcutt and Sen. John Braun. We spent the hour discussing the 2026 legislative session, sharing our perspectives on the issues before the Legislature, and answering your questions. I always value the opportunity to hear directly from the people I represent, and your questions, comments, and concerns help guide the work I do on behalf of the 20th District.
If you have not checked your mailbox yet, my 2026 legislative session review should be arriving soon. It includes a look at some of the major issues from this year’s session, local projects and investments, and the work I have been focused on for the 20th District. You can also read the full newsletter online or by clicking on the image below.
The purpose of this email is a little different. I wanted to send one more note before election-year communication limits take effect, not to recap the session again, but to make sure you know my office remains open and available to serve you throughout the year.
Election-year communication limits
Beginning on Monday, May 4, my outgoing legislative communications, including email updates like this one, will be restricted until the November general election results are certified by the Secretary of State.
These restrictions are part of state ethics laws that apply in election years, unless the Legislature is called into a special session.
However, these limits do not prevent you from contacting me.
I remain your state representative year-round, and my office will continue to be available to help with questions, concerns, and issues involving state government. Whether you need assistance with a state agency, have a question about a policy issue, want to share an idea, or would like to invite me to a meeting or community event, please continue to reach out.
My contact information is listed at the bottom of this update.
Even while outgoing legislative communications are limited, I will continue to listen, respond, and do the work you sent me to Olympia to do.
Ways to stay informed
During this temporary communication freeze, you can still find information about my work, the Legislature, and the 2026 session and beyond through several public resources.

Thank you for staying engaged and for continuing to share your questions, concerns, and ideas with me. Good representation depends on open communication, and I value every opportunity to hear directly from the people I serve.
Please keep in touch. It’s an honor to serve you.
Sincerely,

Peter Abbarno
